Artist Tim Kings in his whaling shop in historic St. Augustine, inching his way along creating a bird’s eye maple whale.

After the outline of the whale is cut from the template,  there are hours of layout work giving each whale the individual touch of details.

Each and every whale is hand carved, hand sanded and hand finished.  Each completed whale is a unique one of a kind.

Although each whale is cut from the same outline, the same template,  hand shaped from his father’s original whale made almost forty years ago,  each whale takes on a unique and individual detailing, all eye and hand created.

With the layout work completed,  the maple board goes thru another metamorphous, removing all wood that is not whale.
